  • CNSA Member Profile: La Société St. Pierre

    Member profile by Heidi Schiller, CNSA’s Member-at-Large for Communications & Awards 2022 marks the 75th anniversary of La Société Saint-Pierre, which is an Associate Institutional member of the CNSA. The Society’s mandate is to promote and preserve Acadian culture and language in the Cheticamp region of Cape Breton. They also own and manage a cultural centre, which is home to Les Trois Pignons, the Museum of the Hooked Rug and Home Life, and the Centre de généalogie Père-Charles-Aucoin.     The 2022 CNSA Conference, “Community-Driven Archives,” will explore archives, archival projects, and archival initiatives that respond to the needs of communities and help build community connections. The hybrid conference* will take place in-person and online from October 24-25, 2022. Registration is open to all!     It’s official: nominations are open for the 2022 CNSA Awards!  The Awards Ceremony will be held at the 2022 CNSA Annual Conference – the CNSA’s first ever hybrid conference, which will take place both in-person (Halifax) and online from October 24-25.     The CNSA’s Reconciliation Working Group (RWG) is seeking feedback on their Report: https://www.councilofnsarchives.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/CNSA-RWG-Report-June-2022.pdf  This draft is a condensed version of what was submitted to the CNSA Executive on March 18, 2022. It contains 14 recommendations for the CNSA Executive – actions focused on building relationships with Mi’kmaq and decolonizing archival practice in this region.  The RWG would like their recommendations to reflect the needs and priorities of all those invested in the future of archives and archival practice in this region.     It’s that time of year again: PADP ‘season’ is almost upon us! The 2022-23 PADP guidelines will be released in late February, but in the mean time, we want to be sure that our Institutional members have the tools you need to write your applications.  The CNSA is therefore offering a FREE workshop on how to write a successful PADP application!
