What is it? The CNSA was one of the first in Eastern Canada to introduce a Cooperative Acquisition Strategy and make it publicly available. The strategy encourages transparency with donations and ensures that they make their way to the most appropriate home in the province. We are once again offering a free, online workshop on how to write a successful Provincial Archival Development Program (PADP) funding application. What is the Provincial Archival Development Program? The Provincial Archival Development Program (PADP) was established in 2008, and is administered by Nova Scotia Archives (NSA). Only (full) Institutional Members of the CNSA can apply for this funding – it’s a key benefit of achieving Institutional Membership status! As some of you may know, the CNSA was given a generous, one-time allotment of funds from the NS Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism, and Heritage to refresh and augment our Disaster Recovery Supply Depots. We are therefore seeking members to join the Disaster Preparedness Working Group (DPWG) to oversee this important and timely project. Meetings and Project Timeframe: The lifespan of the DPWG is anticipated to be brief, with the bulk of the work complete by the end of this calendar year and the project wrapped-up by the end of this fiscal year (March 31, 2024). The CNSA’s 2023-2028 Strategic Framework was developed in the winter of 2023 by members of the 2022-2023 CNSA Executive and staff plus representatives for the Nova Scotia Archives: Big thanks to Sherie Hodds from Plum Group for facilitating the planning process and distilling our thoughts and ideas into a framework for the CNSA. Thanks, too, to the Nova Scotia Archives with providing funds and space for our team to gather.

The Society’s mandate is to promote and preserve Acadian culture and language in the Cheticamp region of Cape Breton. They also own and manage a cultural centre, which is home to Les Trois Pignons, the Museum of the Hooked Rug and Home Life, and the Centre de généalogie Père-Charles-Aucoin.
