General description:
Arrangement and description of archival material is the nuts and bolts of archival work. This workshop focuses on the principles of arrangement and includes case studies, providing the participant with a “hands on” opportunity to arrange several typical fonds. The second day of the workshop begins with a discussion of description, different types of finding aids, and finishes with participants discussing the principles of description.
This workshop is part of the CNSA Archival Certificate Program.
Learning Method:
Learning is done through a combination of lecture, personal reading, small group discussion, and practical exercises over a 2-day period in an informal, friendly atmosphere.
Prior knowledge required:
Introduction to Archives workshop or experience working with archival records.
