Introduction to Archives (Core)

This workshop will give an overview of archival management, explaining the difference between a fonds and a collection, the archival principles of provenance and original order, and introduce participants to the basic archival functions of acquisition, accessioning, appraisal, arrangement, description and reference.
This workshop is part of the CNSA Archival Certificate Program.
Learning Method:
Learning is done through a combination of lecture, personal reading, and practical exercises over a 2-day period in an informal, friendly atmosphere.
Prior knowledge required
None required, however experience working in or with archival records is an asset.
