Introduction to Archives, Section 2: June 28-30, 2021

Introduction to Archives provides an overview archives and archival practice. The course will be taught online by our Archives Advisor, Sharon Murray, across three half-day sessions. The bulk of the learning is done in class through lectures, discussions, and activities, but some reading will be required between sessions. By the end of the course, students should be able to distinguish archival records from other types of records, recognize risks to preserving archival materials, know what a fonds is an how it’s organized, plus have a basic understanding of the seven core archival functions: acquisition, accessioning, appraisal, arrangement, description, and access & reference. Each person that completes the course will receive a digital certificate of completion.
This course is part of the CNSA Archival Certificate Program. Those wanting to complete the Certificate Program will need to submit an assignment following each course to demonstrate their comprehension of the content.
Cost:
- CNSA Member: $95
- Non-member: $140
- Group of 2-4 from a member institution: $75 per person
- Group of 5+ from a member institution: $50 per person

Hi,
I am involved with the Fultz House Museum and am the Archive Officer at the FCRS and was wondering if you know whether future sessions for other courses will be offered online versus in-person if one was thinking of doing the certificate program.
