Recruiting Committee Members!
We’re seeking members for our two standing committees plus a new working group! All meetings take place on Zoom, so you can join from wherever you are in the province. We have great projects planned for each group – see full details & links to sign-up below!
Education Committee
The CNSA Education Committee oversees all of our educational offerings including our Core Courses and advanced workshops. The committee typically meets 4-6 times a year and members serve two-year terms.
During their term, we’d like the committee to decide what workshops and possibly new Core Course the CNSA should offer to help our members be (better) disaster prepared, and then start putting those plans into motion, assisting the Archives Advisor with finding instructors, relevant resources, and possible partners, etc.
Preservation Committee
The CNSA Preservation Committee plans and oversees all preservation activities for the CNSA including our new Disaster Recovery Kit for Archival and Heritage Collections (aka The Aftermath Kit). The committee typically meets 4-6 times a year and members serve two-year terms.
During their term, we’d like the committee to develop and test-drive a preservation self-assessment tool/form to assist members with preservation management and/or supplement a Global Preservation Assessment. There are templates and guides out there, which the group can adapt and test for usability and efficacy.
Born-Digital Working Group
This brand new group is for archivists who are actively processing and managing born-digital records* in their collections. Other than providing a space for peer-to-peer support, we’d like the group to test tools available for conducting digital preservation self-assessments. Apart from that, it will be up to the group to decide what their purpose and objectives will be, and how often they’ll meet!
*Original records and collections that only exist in digital form (as opposed to files created from digitizing physical collections).
