Laurena presenting the winner of the Anna Hamilton Outstanding Volunteer Award, Madeleine McNeil of VG Nurses Alumni Archives, with her certificate and prize.
The Anna Hamilton Memorial Award for outstanding volunteer was presented this year to Madeleine McNeil of the Victoria General Hospital Nurses Alumni Archives in Halifax. Madeleine, a long-time volunteer at the VG Archives, helped to develop many of the archives’ policies, attended CNSA workshops and training programs, and served on the CNSA executive committee from 1996-1998. Her work in the archives has involved arranging and describing much of the archival material in their holdings, providing reference services and tours, and preparing displays. One of her most recent projects has involved writing a history of VG nursing grads who served in WWI and WWII using material from the archives. Madeleine’s colleagues describe her as a dedicated volunteer who is always willing to assist with projects in the archives. The CNSA was pleased to present the Anna Hamilton Award to Madeleine in recognition of her lengthy volunteer service and dedication.
