We are once again offering a free, online workshop on how to write a successful Provincial Archival Development Program (PADP) funding application.

What is the Provincial Archival Development Program?

The Provincial Archival Development Program (PADP) was established in 2008, and is administered by Nova Scotia Archives (NSA). Only (full) Institutional Members of the CNSA can apply for this funding – it’s a key benefit of achieving Institutional Membership status! Archives can apply for up to $15,000 of funding for a project that begins and ends within one fiscal year of the application (April 1 to March 31). Proposed projects must connect to one of the four PADP Objectives outlined in the guidelines. Applicants can earn extra points for projects that connect with a Provincial Priority. Applicants must provide 25% of total project costs as cash and/or in-kind contributions.

About the Workshop

The 2024-25 PADP guidelines and applications have not yet be released (date TBD), but this workshop will help you be prepared and start crafting your project ideas. Led by Patti Bannister, Provincial Archivist and former PADP adjudicator, this interactive workshop will be filled with valuable information to help you write a successful PADP funding application. During the two hours, Patti will provide a thorough review of the PADP application process with particular emphasis on the program objectives and how to develop an effective application to meet those objectives including a project plan, timeline, and budget. This will be followed by a question/answer period in which you can ask Patti questions that are specific to your potential project or repository.

How do I attend?

This workshop will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, January 30, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The workshop will be recorded, so if you cannot attend, you will be able to watch the recording online later. But attending is very much worthwhile, since you can ask Patti questions about your specific project! To attend this workshop, you must register online in advance. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about how to join the meeting on Jan. 30.
