Octagon House

[196-]

Photograph of Octagon house, which once stood on the corner of Dahlia Avenue and Crichton Street, its original terraces overlooking Sullivan's Pond, facing Halifax Harbour. The house was built in 1871 for Gavin Holiday, production manager of Starr Manufacturing. The property was sold by the estate of the last owner Charles Herman, to a development company which demolished the house in 1969. An apartment building, commemoratively named Octagon Tower, is now located on the site.
