Argyle Township Court House Archives

The Argyle Township Court House Archives is located in the Argyle Township Court House & Gaol, Canada's oldest standing courthouse, located in Tusket Village. The archives, which was established in 1983, is one of the major centres for historical & genealogical research in southwestern Nova Scotia. Although the archives specializes in material on the families and communities in the Municipality of Argyle and Yarmouth County. The archives has the largest microfilm collection on this part of Nova Scotia. The microfilm collection includes all available census records for all parts of Nova Scotia, 1770-1901; all available vital records for the entire province; local newspapers, and much more. The archives also has a substantial book collection and manuscript & record collection dealing with the families and communities of Yarmouth Co., NS. A very large photographic collection also exists. The Archives serves as the repository for the Municipal records of the Municipality of the District of Argyle.
